Italian pianist Filippo Gorini is praised for his “rare intellect, temperament…and vivid imagination.” In 2015, he received first prize at the Telekom-Beethoven Competition Bonn. After hearing his performance of Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, Alfred Brendel invited Gorini to work with him, a rare and distinctive honor. For his Seattle debut, Gorini takes the listener on a journey from Beethoven’s harmonious Sonata, Op. 110 through the folk-like melodies of Bartók’s Sonata, across the cerebral landscape of Stockhausen’s Klavierstück IX, and ultimately to the heights of Beethoven’s last piano sonata. This is “brave, original playing for a musician of any age” (The Guardian).
