An unprecedented collaboration of three cultural visionaries: David Krakauer, a champion of klezmer and world-class clarinetist; Fred Wesley, the legendary funk trombonist known for playing with James Brown and George Clinton; and Socalled, a hip-hop renegade and beat architect. An all-out klezmer-funk hip-hop dance party!

A concert full of rocking and rolling Hanukkah songs? It’s a Hanukkah miracle! Indie-pop band The LeeVees’ (Adam Gardner of the band Guster and Dave Schneider from the Zambonis) have taken up the important task of writing a bunch of rockin’ Hanukkah songs. Their debut album, “Hanukkah Rocks”, features humorous songs like “How Do You Spell Chanukkahh?” and the classic punk tune “Gelt Melts,” that ask tough questions set to fun, catchy music. There’s plenty of fist-pumping sing-along action and fun, kitsch factor for all kids, teens, and parents alike!

Dance+Live Music: birds sing a pretty song

A new dance performance piece combining dance, interactive media, and film from emerging choreographer/dancer Rebecca Margolick and composer/graphic artist Maxx Berkowitz. The work is an exploration of solitude, beauty, and chaos and the way in which technology and surveillance amplifies and minimizes connection and those states of being. Created at the 14th Street Y’s LABA: Laboratory for Jewish Culture, BSAPS was inspired by textual study.

Comedy: Cathy Ladman

One of the country’s top comedians, Cathy Ladman is self-probing and draws laughter from exposing personal neuroses. She has appeared on “The Tonight Show” nine times, “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand Up Comic for her HBO comedy special “One Night Stand.” She has written for “Roseanne” and other TV sitcoms.  Her film credits include “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The Aristocrats,” and “White Oleander.” TV appearances include “Mad Men,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Politically Incorrect.”
