Talk by Elizabeth Becker | Reporting War, Genocide, Pol Pot and Testifying at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal

Join us for a public talk on Rare Witness: Reporting on War, Genocide, Pol Pot and Testifying at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal by award-winning journalist Elizabeth Becker. Becker will describe her journey as a war correspondent during the massive U.S. bombing of Cambodia, her rare and dangerous journey to Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge – including her interview of Pol Pot – and her week-long testimony as an expert witness at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
About the speaker
Elizabeth Becker, a UW alumna in Asian Studies at the Jackson School of International Studies and author of When the War Was Over, Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge Revolution,” has donated her rare papers and photographs of Cambodia to the UW libraries.
Ms. Becker is an awarding author and journalist who was the New York Times International Economics Correspondent, Senior Foreign Editor of National Public Radio and Washington Post correspondent.
