Saturday Family Concerts: Swil Kanim
Jan 23, 2016 @ 11:00 am

Washington’s Swil Kanim–a member of the Lummi Nation–presents his people’s culture and traditions to a broader audience through his “beautiful music,” (Sherman Alexie). Appropriate for audiences of all ages, Kanim’s violin playing focuses on his heritage, personal journey, and conveying the idea of “playing with honor.” Sunnyside Elementary School’s Brenda Ehrhardt said, “He had my students completely enthralled…but most importantly, he had them feeling.” A deviation from the typical up-on-your-feet kindie pop of some children’s music, Kanim’s performance will enthrall even the youngest of listeners.
