Jun 28, 2012 @ 6:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Free
The Filipino Community of Seattle and the Seattle Police Department are organizing this upcoming vigil for Danny Vega on June 28th.
On November 15, 2011, Danny Vega was walking near 42nd Ave. S and Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. when he was attacked and robbed. Danny was beaten severely and knocked unconscious and died twelve days later. Danny was an out, gay and active member of the South End Filipino Community. His death remains unsolved.
When: Thursday, June 28 at 6:45pm
Where: The lot at the NE corner of MLK and Othello, near the Bank of America building.
What: Brief program, candlelight vigil, and members of the Filipino Community Center will be working with reps from the Seattle Police Department to canvass the surrounding neighborhood and pass out flyers.
Why:
1. To encourage potential witnesses and people who may know something about the crime to come forward.
2. To remind the community that Danny Vega’s death continues to remain unsolved due to lack of solid evidence.
3. To bring to light that LGBTQI folks like Danny remain targets in our community. We have to look out for each other.
